Eccentric point at 0°
A needle point is eccentric if it is not aligned exactly with the centre of the needle radius, but to a specific position in the outer radius of the needle. Eccentric points fulfil different tasks depending on the needle type.
Flat shank at 270°
On sewing machine needles with a flat shank, one or multiple sides of the shank are flat. The flat shanks are used for radial positioning of the sewing machine needle in the needle bar. This ensures that the needle is positioned in exactly the same specified angle to the threading direction after each change. This guarantees a clear position of the needle in relation to the hook.
